Life On A Mission Team

1. Zeal for your Mission

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

When Jesus came with this great commission, he came with the ultimate authority. He wanted all his disciples to be consumed with the purpose of making disciples. He wants us to make disciples of all nations, race, caste and religious background. Jesus was always zealous for his mission on earth. He instilled that in his disciples to do likewise. Whatever Jesus did, it was with God.

Matthew 9:9
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

Jesus calls Matthew; a tax collector and he got up and followed Jesus. Jesus inspired people to follow him. We need to have a real zeal and a focused intensity on seeking and saving the lost.

Jesus was always prayerful towards God and now he has promised us that he will be with us always to the very end of the age.

Today, what is holding you back from being zealous for Jesus’ mission? Are you dreaming about taking God’s Word to different parts of South Asia?

2. Passion in Action

2 Thessalonians 3:8
nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.

Here Paul talks about laboring and toiling hard for others. If we feel strongly about Jesus’ cause to save the lost, we need to be ready for action. We need to plan our days, weeks, months and fill them with meaningful actions.

Are you a disciplined person? Remember that a disciple is a disciplined follower of Jesus. With Jesus there was never a dull moment. He was always putting his mind, soul, heart and strength to give everything to people.

Are you like Paul who was so much consumed with the passion of winning souls that his life was always on the run?

From converting people to raising up leaders, to strengthening the churches that are facing persecution, he did it all! To him was “to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

The life in a mission team is a practical way of putting your passions, dreams and desires into action. When we prepare and start doing things God always blesses us.

3. Hold on to the Vision

Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

The Bible says that we should never ever give up. Always think of the big picture of saving lost souls. It’s the time with God that keeps us going on. How is your prayer and Bible study? In a big church we have so many relationships with other Christians. But when we are on the mission team, we have to hold on to the scriptures and the promises of God.

There are times when we get discouraged! Still we must move on by focusing on the vision of heaven that is in our minds. Our work has just begun. Just persevere even when things go slow. Life on a mission team is always fun.

In order to have an abundant life on the mission team, you need to have a zeal for your mission and put your passion in action and finally, hold on to the vision.
